You can use plastic pails. About 2-3 gallons for the one coat.
I would like to keep the original natural color for our newly replaced horizontal deck surfaces (floor, top rails, steps and built-in bench) which are pressure treated pine. When it rained on the new wood, the grains and natural color were highlighted and absolutely beautiful!
I see the colors of TWP 1500 Clear, 1515 Honeytone and 1530 Natural. Would one of these be able to recreate this color effect and not darken the wood with annual re-coating? The deck is in the sunlight essentially all day.

My CEDAR deck is over 20 years old [approx. 400SF of flat surface]. It was professionally treated with TWP #101 in 2017 and needs to be refreshed. We build homes near Lake Winnipesaukee. Mildew is a big problem. How do you combat it. Everything I’ve seen over the years allows mildew spores to get a grip then when cleaning /killing it before your #2 or #3 coat its already stained the wood and never comes out. What do you have to add to this issue?
TWP contains an EPA registered mildewcide that helps combat and prevent mildew.
How well will the color stain hold up? It is more maintenance?
TWP requires a maintenance coat every 2-3 years. Clean and brighten the wood for the prep.
What is the difference between TWP 100 clear andTWP natural. Can’t decide on which to use for screened in porch.
Natural is not clear but tinted. Clear will not provide UV protection from graying since it is untinted.
My porch deck rarely sees water and some sun in spring and fall. Do the clear and natural look the same on cedar? What is the clears other uses?
No, they do not look the same. Clear has no tint (no change in appearance) while Natural is tinted so the color will be enhanced. Clear protects against mildew, water, etc.

I stain my deck with TWP every two years. The deck is very slippery when it rains. Is there something I can do to avoid a slippery deck?
There is not an additive that can be used. TWP is a penetrating stain and should not be slippery. It is possible that through the years you have built up the coating to the point it cannot soak in anymore and is shiny when dry. If so, best to strip it down so the next coating soaks in and is not slippery.

Hello, did a first coat last June on Pressure treated wood railings. This year, another coat with last years stain, and it dried shiny. What would of caused this? And no, it wasn’t cleaned or prepped, boyfriend was inpatient and doesn’t believe in prepping wood for stain. Last years first coat was applied after he sanded it and that coat was not shiny. I don’t like to see it shiny because everything I read says stain should not be shiny. Also, I think wood grain doesn’t show through as nice with the shine (my opinion). Is boyfriend right, it’s okay that it’s shiny?

I live in northeast central Florida on the St. Johns River. I want to put a wood preservative on my dock. It is treated pine and was rebuilt in January of 2018 . Most of the original dock was destroyed during Hurricane Irma in 2017 with the exception of a 3 ft. by 40 ft. walkway which is about 18 years old. I prefer a clear (untinted) product. I was considering the TWP 100 clear product and wondered if it lasted as long as the tinted coatings. Also I wondered if it would turn gray after long exposure to the sun.
