TWP Stain Retailers

The TWP Official Online Dealers and Distributors:

Be wary of certain sites selling TWP, not all are stocking dealers and we have heard many complaints about customers not receiving their orders promptly or at all.

Select Paint Stores and Lumberyards

TWP is available in select markets and retail stores across the country.  Best to contact the manufacturers for possible locations. In many cases, it is not available locally. It may be easier and less expensive to purchase from one of the 2 sites above.

Big Box Stores

TWP is not sold in Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc. To do this, TWP would either have to change its formula or move operations offshore, to be competitive with the “big box” brands sold there.

I’m in MA and have a 650 sf mahogany deck. Also cedar clapboard siding 700 sf. Both are over 10 years old. Prepped with pressure washing and scraped. What would you recommend?
I want a penetrating stain. I’ve used cedar tone stain in the past. Full sun exposure. 6-8 hours a day.

Make sure that any previous coatings have been removed. Use the TWP 1500 Series for both.

i recently built a horizontal plank cedar fence out of kiln dried 1″ cedar decking. Been up for about a month now. Since it is already dry, can I apply the product now, or do I have to let it weather some more? Also, we want it to stay as close to the natural wood color as possible. The clear product says it will still gray, but will the cedar tone stain change the appearance very much? Thank you

We had a cedar fence installed about 3 weeks ago. Our irrigation system hits about half of it on one side. Living in Greenville, SC, where the temps are in the mid to high 90s doesn’t make it a good idea to turn the irrigation off for long. How long does it need to be off? When should be stain the fence? And where in Greenville, SC, can be purchase TWP 1500?

Is the wood rough sawn cut? If so you can stain now. Keep sprinklers off for two days prior to dry. Turn back on 24 hours after application. We ship online to your area.

I’m looking for a place to buy TWP 100 near Bellingham Washington. Is there any stores that carry it around there?
Also I have a cedar deck I’m planning on using TWP 100 on. It’s previously been stained but has mold and mildew on it due to a previous water based stain. We are planning on sanding it all down and then using TWP. Can we prep it this way?

Thanks!

Hello, we are an online dealer for the TWP. You can sand for prep, but you should clean and brighten after with the Gemini Restore Kit that we sell. It helps the stain to penetrate better after sanding. Do not sand with grit finer than 60-80.

That really means it is water based and those can be stripped, but it is harder. You may need to strip twice to remove all. It should not kill the grass. Pre wet any grass nearby and rinse if the stripper does get on it some.

My house has cedar siding which has been stained in the past with oil based, semi-transparent stain. I believe they have used Benjamin Moore and TWP in the past but I’m not sure which they used where. It has been 5-6 years since it has been stained. I live in Austin, TX so hot & humid summers. Hello, when switching brands to TWP you will need to strip off the old stain with the Restore A Deck Stain Stripper and pressure washing. After removal, you will need to apply the Restore A Deck Wood brightener. Stain with the TWP 1500 Series.

You will need a pressure washer to remove after applying the RAD stain Stripper. Apply, pressure wash off, repeat if needed. Apply the RAD Wood Brightener when done with the stripping

Live in a Chicago suburb and have a cedar deck that i have had to clean and sand every spring due to the discoloration of the stains I have used in the past. Have used both Sikkens Cetol SRD as well as Superdeck Transparent Stain. What would you recommend? I’ve prepared the deck already and have it sanded and ready to stain. I’d like to maintain the current color of the wood and do not want to go too orange/red.

Hi Kevin, make sure that you remove the old stain fully first before using the TWP. BM Arborcoat is not easy to remove and may require sanding. You cannot apply any stain over the Arborcoat. TWP 1500 is what you will need once removed.

I am having my deck cleaned and stained this year. I live in Atlanta. The deck previously had twp 1500 on it. One of the contractors who gave me an estimate said he would use the 200 series. Which is the best to use. Also one person said it would take 4-5 gallons and another said two gallons . The deck is approx. 10 x 20. including stairs and is only four feet off the ground.

TWPStainHelp

Best to use the 1500. 200 Series is for shakes and shingles. Hard to say on the amount needed as we would need a total sq. footage that includes railings, flooring, stairs, outside edges, etc. Also are they doing one coat or two coats applied wet one wet?

I’m replacing some rotted porch beams with 6×6 rough cut cedar posts. to save money I’m not taking out the roof beam but cladding the existing beam in a/c cedar (rough side out) to create a “faux” rough cedar beam. Unfortunately the 1x cladding material is a white cedar not the red cedar of the posts. I want to use a semi transparent stain keep the wood grain of posts showing through but also try to get the color to “match” as good as I can without having to use a solid stain. I live in Colorado but on the front range where it is dry, the wood will only get morning sun.

1. which stain series do you think would work best?

2. I see that you state for smooth boards let them weather, Do you recommend letting rough cut / rough side weather as well?

3. Will TWP darken and turn black?

4. do you think the semi-transparent Cedar will darken up the 1x white cedar? thanks

1. Use the 100 Series
2. No need to let the rough cut weather.
3. No
4. Had to say. Best to get some samples from our site to test prior to ordering.

I bought a house 3 years ago, and the wood deck has never been stained. Due to a pergola covered in vines, the deck does not receive a lot of direct sunlight. I live in northern Indiana, so our winters are typically harsh due to lake effect snow. Also, this deck is the main entrance to my home, so it is a high traffic area. I have a large cottage that has semi transparent stain applied. The stain is not peeling but the color has faded. I am unsure if I HAVE to strip it as as the building is extremely tall, has a lot of windows, and the old stain seems to be very hard to take off even with stripper. (I am new to this and tested a small area last year) Can I apply semi transparent on top of previous semi transparent stain or could I apply a solid stain on top of a semi transparent stain, or do I have to STRIP it completely for the best results. I thought I’d ask an expert before I make a major mistake. Thanks. If you could direct me with the best advice and steps, it would be greatly appreciated. (Northern Canada)

Yes you have to strip/remove as TWP cannot be applied on top of a stain of a different brand. In addition, TWP is not allowed for Canada. Sorry.
