TWP Stain Retailers
The TWP Official Online Dealers and Distributors:
Be wary of certain sites selling TWP, not all are stocking dealers and we have heard many complaints about customers not receiving their orders promptly or at all.
Select Paint Stores and Lumberyards
TWP is available in select markets and retail stores across the country. Best to contact the manufacturers for possible locations. In many cases, it is not available locally. It may be easier and less expensive to purchase from one of the 2 sites above.
Big Box Stores
TWP is not sold in Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc. To do this, TWP would either have to change its formula or move operations offshore, to be competitive with the “big box” brands sold there.
How much stain do I need for a 240 square foot deck with 16 stairs and railings all around?
Please use our calculator tool on the right hand side to determine the amount needed:

Thanks
What color should I get? I have a new pressure-treated Yellawood deck with gray siding on the back of the house.
Any color you want. We have samples to test if you would like.
I have a brand new Yellawood pressure treated deck in Atlanta. What water-based stain should I get? Should I go for semi-transparent or solid?
We only sell semi-transparent oil based stains. You would want the TWP 100 Series.
I have clear cedar railing. stained with cabot Australian timber oil stain (water base) two times in last five years. want to try your product. how should I prep and what product should I use to finish?
You would have to remove the Cabot first and that process may require stripping and sanding if you have a buildup of the Cabot. You will also need to apply a wood brightener after the sanding. Stain with either the TWP 100 Series or 1500 Series.
John
My deck is 10 years old, Location Warrington, PA. 18976. Pretty hard winter with snow.
Full sun from 7 Am to 5 PM. Deck top is white cedar, rails are pressure treated pine. My experience is the last stain I used, Cabots lasted a year. Also, one year I used Olympic, same issue, 1 year and the grayish look and wear . I pressured washed each time before applying stain. What would you recommend?
Prep with the Gemini Restore Kit and pressure washing. Stain with the TWP 1500 Series for PA.
We have an 8 year old cedar deck with Durastain semi-transparent stain thats a year old. The color turned out very orange so want to change it and wasn’t pleased with the results we had with that brand. If I pressure wash to the bare wood and then floor sand the decking boards do I have to do any other prep? Also, what is the difference between 100 and 1500? If you could recommend one I would appreciate it. We are looking for a dark brown transparent or semi-transparent color. Thank you.
You will need to use the Gemini Restore Kit after full removal of the Durastain or after your sanding. Look at the TWP 1503 Dark Oak color.
Our Virginia home’s ceilings will have kiln dried Douglas Fir beams and exposed T&G roof decking running both inside and outside. We will not be living in the home for at least several weeks after application, and want a natural look that won’t raise the grain – and be low maintenance. TWP seems like it could be a good choice?
Yes the TWP would be a good choice. Best to get a few samples from our site to test color first.
we have wood garage doors that have been stained in the past and are now peeling with bare wood showing. Should we use TWP and if so, what prep should we do? we live in central TX and doors have full sun exposure.
Remove the peeling stain first before applying TWP. Do you know the brand name of the old stain?
I have a brand new pressure treated deck. What would be the best product to use? Do you make a translucent stain?
All TWP colors show the grain of the wood. Please read this about new wood: http://www.twpstainhelp.com/prepping-new-wood-for-twp-stains/
We just purchased a home in St. Cloud, MN (about an hour NW of Minneapolis) that has a deck that has never been stained. Not sure the age of the deck, but guessing about 3-4 years old. We would like to stain the deck in a gray. What would you suggest? And where can I purchase it up here in MN?
Prep first with the Gemini Restore Kit and stain with the TWP 105 Cape Cod Gray. You can order and have it shipped to you from our website.
It is a semi-transparent and yes the 200 Series is best for shingle wood roofs.
Can TWP be purchased in Buffalo or Niagara Falls N.Y? If so, who is the stocking dealer?
We personally are an online dealer and can ship there for you.
I want to use it on bamboo. Cali Bamboo sells your TWP300, but I live in Texas and want to buy the most effective stuff. Will TWP100 be more effective? I want to preserve the bamboo and also impart some color to it. I’ve stained bamboo before and it worked, but some of it comes off after a year or so. I know it’s not permanent but I’m looking for the longest lasting color and seal.
Jim
Jim, you would want the 300 for this bamboo and we unfortunately do not sell the 300 Series. The 100 may work fine but the 300 is the suggested series.
I have TWP 1500 on my deck ( 2 Years ago) Can I apply this year with Twp 100 ?
I have used that in the past and it seems to do a better job.
Thanks palmer
If you want to switch back to the 100 Series then you should strip off the 1500 Series with the Restore A Deck Stripper and use the brightener after.
Use the Gemini Restore Kit while pressure washing and the TWP 100 Series if allowed in your state or use the 1500.
Hi
As a consumer. (actually a contractor.) Can I purchase this product in the USA and bring back to Canada?
Where is It available in the Bellingham area of Washington state?
How well does it perform in our damp Rain Forest climate of Vancouver / Seattle??
TWP is not VOC compliant for Canada.
Can you ship twp100 via ups to Canada?
No it is not legal there. 1500 cannot either.
Yes but it will have a very strong odor. I would not do it unless you are not living in the home for a couple of weeks or longer.
Yes you need to remove if you want to switch.
Thanks!
Rhonda, no you would need to remove the Olympic first.
I completed construction of a 10 x 12 PT upper level deck 11 months ago in upstate NY and am nearly ready to stain as the bare unsanded uncleaned wood is ready to prep. After 11 months of exposure, the wood has a bleached look with some black mold in spots which I have tempered some with oxygenated bleach. Water does not bead but should I be concerned about mill glaze anywhere? esp. on verticals? What other suggestions would you recommend for prep as this is my first and only deck.
Scott, best to prep with the Gemini Restore Kit for this and a light pressure washing.
I have a cedar deck that has been treated with TWP at least 4 times over 12 years. Needs another treatment this year and was wondering what the best peeping approach would be. The wood still shows some TWP “color” in it and about 50% of the horizontals are appear to be bare wood with no color left. Verticals still look good as usual. Is it better to remove all the old TWP on the deck with the stripper stuff or just use brightener or cleaner and go right over the top?
Doug, for a consistent color it would be best to use the stripper and brightener for the prepping.
Josh, not legal to rush a combustible stain. Must go ground. Typically 2-3 days to NY.
I have a mahogany deck that has been sanded . is the Twp 100 should be using.
Yes and most use the Rustic color.
Where can I buy your product? I live in American Canyon,CA 94503
jp, we are an online dealer for your area and we can ship the TWP to you.
We used Behr premium semi- translucent no 5044. A cedar color but it is a horrible pumpkin color and not translucent at all but more like paint. After 3 years we want to take it off. I have pressure washed and assume I must strip and brighten the deck first. Which twp products should I use to strip and stain deck?
Behr is very hard to remove. Use the Restore A Deck Stripper followed but the Restore A Deck Brightener. Sand what is left if needed. Use TWP 1500 Series.
Are the TWP products sold in the Atlanta Georgia area?
We personally only sell online there.
We do not.
Michelle, it will be fine over the winter. I would not rush.
Jean, the Rustic Color.
Adam, it is against your VOC laws to bring it across the border. We cannot “tell” you it is okay to do this as it technically against the law.
John, the TWP 1500 is compliant for California.
Why is TWP not available for Canada? Will it ever come?
Heather, not compliant for the VOC laws there. Doubt it will be available anytime soon.
We have some old pressure treated wood fencing I have power washed it as some was originally painted, now it looks like new wood. Interested in using a TWP product to preserve it and keep it from graying. I want to achieve the woods natural dry color so would the Honeydew TWP100 be the best choice? We live in Nebraska.
Beverly, the Honeytone will enhance the wood color similar to if wet with water. You must have a tint in your stain if you want UV protection from graying. The Honeytone is the lightest tint.
mario, prep both with the Gemini Restore Kit than stain with the TWP 1500 for this.
TWP 1500 is not compliant for Canada’s VOC laws.
Pam, yes the TWP would work well on your wood. Make sure to prep correctly.
Any suppliers in the Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Area please?
TWP is not compliant for Canada VOC laws and is not sold there.
Instead of simply saying “its not sold there” remember that Canada BORDERS America and its generally easy for much of the population to take a jaunt to the States and bring back a bucket. I wish more American companies would just be helpful enough to point out the nearest border city its available in, which there are many I bet.
Is TWP 100 a good material to be used on cedar siding? what needs to be done to prepare siding previously coated with CWF UV (about 4-5 years ago) with TWP 100?
Zeke, you need to remove the CWF from the siding first. This typically can be done with the Restore A Deck Stripper and pressure washing. Brighten the wood when done. TWP works great on cedar siding.
I live in Southern Oregon on the coast. No problems with cold but very wet. Which of your products do you recommend for a large, sunny deck that also gets lots of rain in winter?
Sue, I would order the TWP 100 Series for this.
I also live in Southern Oregon, but we have little rain and have the cold temps.
My deck is exposed to lots of sun. It is a year old, has had no treatment ever on it, however it was built with “Severe Weather” treated lumber from Lowes.
After reading reviews and instructions on deck staining, I understand that I will need to “restore” my deck surface before staining. What do you suggest we use to accomplish that, as well which of your stains is good for our area?
Sherrie, use the Gemini Restore Kit for the prep and the 100 Series for the stain.
tuck, you cannot apply TWP over a different stain but you can apply TWP over itself as long as the wood is prepped correctly.
can twp be shipped to Canada via online purchase
TWP 100 and 1500 cannot be sold or used in Canada. They are not compliant for the VOC laws.
Does this stuff have a warranty? If so, how long is it? Thanks.
TWP offers a limited warranty. There is not a “year” guarantee as all projects last different lengths of time due to the exposure to weather.
Any chance you’ll offer the 1500 in a gray any time soon?
Jay, it is not going to be offered in a gray.
Where can TWP100 or 200 be purchased in Toronto, Canada?
Jimmy, TWP is not sold in Canada.
Can TWP be found in Toronto now (2014)?
No it is not allowed there.
after reading many reviews, TWP seems like the best option. why is it not allowed in Canada?
It is not VOC compliant for you laws there.
Why not?!!!!
Not legal for Canada’s VOC laws.
Sarah, there is link on the site to order samples.
I have a year old cedar deck that just had a water sealer on it, do i have to strip it or sand it, and do i have to remove the aluminum ballusters. I also am concerned about my flower beds around the deck if i have to strip it? The deck is faded and water still beads in dome areas. Thank you Helen
Helen, It would be best if you strip it to make sure it is rtemoved first. Should be no need to remove the balusters but best to test first to see if there is a reaction. Cover any flower beds.
We have garage doors which peeled one year after application of another stain. Which product would work on these doors and have some shine to them? They get a lot of sun exposure.
Sue, TWP does not come in a shine or gloss.
Do you have any dealers in Nicaragua or Costa Rica?
Sorry but TWP is not sold outside the 48 US States.
I bought my TWP 1500 from one of the sites above. It arived within a few days. Very happy with their delivery in service. If you cannot find it locally then I would suggest doing the same.
